  First impressions are often telling, and my first impression at Sonic should have screamed, "Go somewhere else."
  
  The staff seemed shocked when I arrived with my three girls, as if they couldn't believe someone had actually shown up to eat their food. In retrospect I can understand why they might have been surprised. The meal we were eventually served was, frankly, terrible, making McDonald's look like fine dining by comparison.
  
  When deciding where to eat that day, my five year old had asked to go to McDonald's, but I scoffed and said, "Child, let's go somewhere better." Turns out I should have listened to her.
